The photographs are of Malay and/or Halal food stores taken in Hawker Centres to commemorate Singapore’s Hawker Culture. The installation is made to rouse the viewer’s senses. The display of spices (Four Friends/ Empat Sekawan) are of those typical in Malay food. To view the photographs, the viewer mimics the action of bending down to choose food items in a Hawker store and at the same time get a whiff of the spices.
