Inspired by Ho Kok Hoe’s painting called ‘Conversation’, the two paintings are of personal images of myself during my childhood which also serve as memorabilia. The painting on the left is a homage to my Bugis heritage and the painting on the right is a homage to my Singaporean Malay heritage. Both are paintings of the collective action of eating/preparing food whilst seated on the floor; a typical tradition shared by the people of Nusantara.
